G Gathering Mystery Reader at Shawboro

Mystery Reader at Shawboro

Ginger Sykes, the tireless guardian of the Currituck Animal Shelter, was a recent Mystery Reader for the Shawboro Elementary School's fourth and fifth grade class.

They discussed three ways to read: for pleasure, for ideas and concepts, and for facts. The one read for pleasure was about a stray dog named Nubs who was adopted by a Marine Captain in the Iraq war and brought to the U. S. For idea stimulation, Ginger read one of Breonna Loxley's columns from The Shopper. The other article taught how to make a bird feeder from a pine cone and peanut butter.

Accompanying Ginger was her miniature dachshund Barkley, who always steals the show!
